OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently completed a canned food drive, which netted more than 350 items for the Food Bank of South Central Michigan in Battle Creek.
SAAC members went door-to-door in the residence halls to collect the items from students. They also manned a table in the Kirk Center dining hall during lunch and collected donations from students, as well as faculty and staff. Anyone who donated an item was entered in a drawing to win a $50 Bookstore gift certificate.
“For it being the first year we have done a can food drive, I could not be happier with what we collected,” said SAAC Vice President Preston Treend, a junior wrestler from Casco. “I am looking forward to doing it next year and increasing our donations.”
