Women’s and men’s basketball teams picked fifth and seventh in MIAA preseason coaches’ polls
The Olivet College women’s and men’s basketball teams have been picked to finish fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 2012-13 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches’ Polls. Each coach was not allowed to vote for his/her own team. Defending league champions Calvin College and Hope College were picked as the women’s and men’s preseason favorites.
OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College women’s and men’s basketball teams have been picked to finish fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 2012-13 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches’ Polls. Third-year Head Coach Nicole Burford welcomes back eight letterwinners, including five seniors, to her women’s basketball team. The seniors are Mellissa Bageris (Milford), Brittany Brown (Inkster/John Glenn), SoQuitta DeShazor (Flint/Hamady), Kaleigh Hill (Niles) and Sydney Radde (Stevensville/Lakeshore).
Olivet travels to Naperville, Ill., to participate in the North Central (Ill.) College Tip-Off Tournament Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16.
A new era for the Comet men’s basketball team begins in 2012-13, as Chris Coles is in his first season at the helm of the program. Olivet opens the 2012-13 season Friday, Nov. 16, when it plays Central Michigan University at 7 p.m.
