OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior defender Cole Dehen (Kentwood/East Kentwood) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer. He is being honored as the Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in his career.
Playing every minute of two games, Dehen helped the Comets win two road games last week to remain unbeaten. Olivet defeated Albion, 2-0, Sept. 18, and was the first team to shutout Hope College this season, 2-0, Sept. 22. Dehen has started all nine games for Olivet this season.
"Cole anchored our back line this past week," said Olivet Head Men's Soccer Coach Chad Wiseman. "He has really stepped up and been a great leader for our team this season. What made last week so special was we got two shutout wins on the road."
The Comets will host Kalamazoo College Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. The Hornets are the only other unbeaten MIAA team this season.
