Softball team loses twice at Alma, 10-0 and 10-1
The Olivet College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader, 10-0 and 10-1, to defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) champion Alma College today at Scots Park in Alma.

ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader, 10-0 and 10-1, to defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) champion Alma College today at Scots Park in Alma.
In the first game, the Scots scored two runs in the second and four runs in each the third and fourth innings. Olivet had only three base runners for the game. Senior Christine Daub (Hudson) walked and reached on an error, and sophomore Terri Hurosky (Nashville/Maple Valley) had a single in the fifth inning. Freshman Jessica Duell (Ionia) was the losing pitcher, as she surrendered all 10 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits.
In the second game, Alma pushed across three runs in the top half of the third inning. The Comets had three straight singles to load the bases in the bottom half of the inning. The Scots got out of the jam with an out at the plate and groundout.
Alma added another run in the fifth. Olivet used a two-out rally to score one run in its half of the fifth inning. Sophomore Alyssa Nielsen (Greenville) and senior Brooke Coshow (Niles/Brandywine) had back-to-back hits. Daub then hit an RBI-single to score Nielsen. The Scots put the game away with a six-run sixth inning.
The Comets finished the game with seven hits, all singles by seven different players. In the circle, senior Rachel Cook (Traverse City/Central) was tagged with the loss. She gave up the 10 runs (eight earned) on 14 hits.
Olivet will host Adrian College for a doubleheader next Wednesday, April 11. Game time from the Cutler Athletic Complex is 3:30 p.m.
