Women’s basketball team loses to Calvin, 79-25

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Calvin College, 79-25, tonight in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first quarter, the Knights raced out to 13-point lead, 20-7. Calvin led by 11 at the end of the opening quarter, 21-10.
  • In the second quarter, the Knights kept the Comets off the scoreboard for the final seven minutes to build a 34-point advantage, 49-15, at the break.
  • Calvin's 54-point margin of victory was its largest lead of the game.

  • Four players scored in double figures.
  • Kara Minderhoud and Ali Spayde each had 14, while Bre Luurtsema and Becca Richard each had 13.
  • Spayde pulled down a team-best nine rebounds and made a game-high six steals.
