Plourde leads women’s golf team to first-place finish at MIAA Jamboree #3
Junior Adrienne Plourde (Redford/Thurston) earned medalist honors to lead the Olivet College women’s golf team to a first-place finish at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today at the Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Junior Adrienne Plourde (Redford/Thurston) earned medalist honors to lead the Olivet College women's golf team to a first-place finish at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today at the Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
The Comets had a 329 team score, which was five strokes better than runner-up Hope College and six strokes better than host Saint Mary's (Ind.) College. Calvin was fourth at 342, followed by Alma 371; Trine (Ind.) 380; Albion 387; and Kalamazoo 428.
Plourde carded a four-over par 76 to earn medalist honors. Freshman Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) was next, completing her round in 83 strokes. Junior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) and freshman Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) finished with an 84 and 86, respectively. Junior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) rounded out Olivet's starting five with a 91.
At the halfway point of the MIAA schedule, Olivet leads Hope by 33 strokes, 973-1,006. Two strokes separate Saint Mary's and Calvin for third, 1,013-1,015. Trine is fifth at 1,113, followed by Adrian 1,125; Albion 1,162; and Kalamazoo 1,274.
The final jamboree before the two-day championships will be Saturday, Oct. 6, at Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. The school with the lowest total after the six rounds will be crowned the 2012 MIAA champion.
