Women’s golf team shoots 323, tied for fifth at Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Olivet College women's golf team shot a 323 team score today in the second round and is tied for fifth-place at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational at the Indian Mounds Golf Course. The third and final round is tomorrow.

After two rounds, the Comets have a 661 team score to tie University of Texas at Tyler. University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas), Methodist (N.C.) University and Claremont Mudd Scripps (Calif.) College all share the top spot on the leaderboard with 639s. Southwestern (Texas) University is only six strokes ahead of Olivet at 653.

Four of the five Comets lowered their scores in today's round, while the fifth equaled her score from yesterday. Junior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) shot a 75 in today's round to give her two-round total of 157 strokes, which sits her in a tie for fourth-place among 119 golfers. Junior Adrienne Plourde (Redford/Thurston) improved by six strokes with a 78, which gives her a 162 and tie for 17th in the player standings.

Freshman Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) dropped two strokes off her total from yesterday with an 84, and now a two-round total of 170 strokes. Freshman Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) carded back-to-back 86s for a two-round total of 172 strokes. Junior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) completed her round today in 87 strokes to give her two-round total of 177.
