Women’s golf team finishes in ninth at IWU Spring Fling
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in ninth-place at the 2013 Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
NORMAL, Ill. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in ninth-place at the 2013 Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
The Comets posted a 349 in Saturday's first round, and dropped only one stroke in today's second round for a 697 total. DePauw (Ind.) University won the team championship at 619 strokes.
Junior Adrienne Plourde was Olivet's top finisher, as she had a two-round total of 166 (84-82) strokes. Junior Theresa Damico carded a 173 (88-85). Freshman Casey Lamp was five strokes behind at 178 (85-93). Freshman Brooke Kastamo and junior Ashley Stark were separated by only one stroke at 184 (92-92) and 185 (96-89), respectively.
The Comets now turn their attention to their three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff rounds. The first is Wednesday afternoon at the Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. As MIAA champions in the fall, Olivet will host the final two rounds on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. The school with the lowest cumulative total after the three rounds will receive the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships.
