Women’s golf team blows away field by 31 strokes at MIAA Playoff Round #2
The Olivet College women’s golf team posted four of the top five individual scores en route to a 319 team score in today’s second round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff round today at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. The 319 score broke the MIAA course record for The Medalist, which was previously was 321 by Olivet in 2011.

The 319 score broke the MIAA course record for The Medalist, which was previously was 321 by Olivet in 2011.
Finishing behind the Comets today were Hope College in second at 350, Saint Mary's (Ind.) College in third at 360 and Calvin College in fourth at 367. The finish allowed Olivet to open a 62-stroke lead, 649 to 711, on Hope in the spring qualifier standings. The third and final round is tomorrow at The Medalist, and the school with the lowest cumulative three-round total will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA DIII National Championships in May.
Junior Theresa Damico was the medalist with a four-over par 76. Her round included a birdie on the hole #16, 13 pars, three bogies and one double bogie. Junior Ashley Stark completed her round in a career-best 78 strokes. She had 14 pars, two bogies and two double bogies.
Junior Adrienne Plourde shot an 82, while freshman Brooke Kastamo was one stroke behind with an 83. Freshman Casey Lamp tied for 12th in the player standings with a 90.
