Women’s swimming team falls to Albion, 137-102
The Olivet College women’s swimming team lost 137-102 to MIAA rival Albion College today at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's swimming team lost 137-102 to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College today at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.
Leading the way for the Comets was sophomore Jazmin Johnson (Grand Rapids/Northview), who swept the sprint freestyle events. She won the 50 in 26.06 seconds and the 100 in 57.00 seconds. Also winning was freshman Kira Gates (Grosse Ile) in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.38.
Sophomore Shana Bush (Alma) took second in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:24.66 and was third-fastest in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:40.64. Junior Alivia Hammond (Byron Center) placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.82.
Both Olivet relays recorded second-fastest times. The 200 medley relay team of Hammond, Gates, junior Kristin Long (Pemberville, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) and Johnson stopped the clock at 1:59.11. The 200 freestyle relay quartet of senior Jana Blodgett (Sturgis), Long, Gates and Johnson finished in 1:47.01.
Olivet will make the trip to swim against Alma College next Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m.
