Women’s tennis team begins spring break trip with 5-4 loss to Heidelberg
The Olivet College women’s tennis team began its spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., today with a 5-4 loss to Heidelberg (Ohio) University.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Olivet College women's tennis team began its spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C., today with a 5-4 loss to Heidelberg (Ohio) University.
The Comets started the match by winning 2-of-3 doubles flights. The No. 1 duo of junior Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) and senior Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) won an 8-5 pro-set. The No. 2 duo of seniors Jenna Baker (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and Jordy Bergeron (Muskegon/Mona Shores) earned an 8-6 pro-set victory.
Olivet won the first two singles flights. LaValley won 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 1 flight. Singer lost only two games en route to a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 2 flight. Baker lost a three-set match for the third time season.
The Comets will continue their spring break trip tomorrow with an 8 a.m. match against Millsaps (Miss.) College.
