OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Sara Wegener (Lansing/Lansing Catholic) has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Athlete of the Week honors for women's track and field.
Wegener broke the school record and placed fifth in the hammer throw with a 124 foot toss April 7 at the Adrian All-American Meet. She also finished in second-place in the discus with a throw of 120 feet, 4 inches and fifth-place in the shot put with a 34 foot toss.
"Sara has done a great job for us all season," said Olivet Head Coach Karen Lutzke. "She has gotten better from meet-to-meet and has been consistent in all of her throws. Sara works very hard in practice and getting this honor proves hard work does pay off."
Olivet returns to competition this Saturday at the 2012 MIAA Jamboree at Albion College.
