Volleyball team has 0-2 record at Liz Lykowski Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Olivet College volleyball team posted a 0-2 record today at the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament hosted by Indiana Tech and on Kline Court in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Comets lost in three sets to Indiana University-East 25-9, 25-17, 25-11 and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University 25-9, 25-11, 25-15.

Against IU-East, senior Jordy Bergeron (Muskegon/Mona Shores) and junior Kristen Sharpley (Marshall) recorded six kills apiece. Sharpley had just one attack error on nine attempts for a .556 hitting percentage. Senior Lacee Boone (Otsego) and freshman Taylor Pringle (Haslett) each finished with seven set assists. Sophomore Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) led the defense with nine digs.

Against Olivet Nazarene, Sharpley pounded down six kills, while Bergeron had five. Pringle topped the team with 14 set assists. Sophomore libero Kaitlyn Salhaney (Caledonia/East Kentwood) led the team with six digs.

The Comets will play two matches tomorrow. Opponents and match times will be announced later tonight at the conclusion of today's matches.
