Bio
You were truly an exceptional multi-talented athlete while a
student at Olivet College. You were also a pioneer in MIAA
women’s athletics. During your years at Olivet you
participated in Field Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, and Tennis.
You lettered in Field Hockey and Basketball. Your efforts helped
your team win the MIAA conference championship in Field Hockey in
1974. Your athletic abilities were recognized when you were named
Most Valuable Player in both Volleyball and Basketball and Most
Improved Player in Tennis. You were also named to the Michigan
College Field Hockey Team in 1973 and 1974. Your abilities as a
team leader were rewarded when you were named by your teammates as
a Captain and Co-Captain in Field Hockey, Basketball and
Volleyball.
As a student your interest in athletes continued as you officiated
at high school volleyball, basketball and softball events. You were
also a member of the Sigma Beta Society. You were honored by the
Physical Education faculty when you received the Debra Tighe
Memorial Award as the outstanding female Health, Physical Education
and Recreation major.
After graduation from Olivet you continued your education by
earning an M.A. from Michigan State University which has advanced
your career path in secondary education, and many years of service
to your Alma Mater which included Assistant Professor of Physical
Education, Women’s Athletic Coordinator, Cooperative
Education Director, Career Services Director, and Assistant and
Acting Dean of Students.
Because of your exceptional abilities as a student athlete, it is
with great pride that on this 26th day of October, 1996, we induct
you into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame.
