Two to be inducted into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame
Olivet College will induct Julie (Davis) Kubiak and Dominic Livedoti into its Athletic Hall of Fame at a dinner 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23. The duo will also be recognized at halftime of Olivet’s home football game versus Elmhurst College at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College will induct Julie (Davis) Kubiak and Dominic Livedoti into its Athletic Hall of Fame at a dinner 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23. The duo will also be recognized at halftime of Olivet’s home football game verses Elmhurst College at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
Kubiak, a 1992 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner on the women’s basketball team. She was named Most Valuable Player at her first five collegiate tournaments. She earned first-team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honors twice in her career. Her 385 points scored in her sophomore year ranks fourth all-time at Olivet for a single-season. Kubiak also ranks among the top five all-time at Olivet in points (986), field goal attempts (940), field goals made (410) field goal percentage (48.9) and rebounds (524). She earned a master’s degree from Western Michigan University in 2001 and is a senior therapist/exercise physiologist at the Physicians Center of Physical Medicine in Portage. She lives in Kalamazoo with husband, Bob, Olivet’s assistant head football coach.
Livedoti, who graduated in 1965, was a four-year varsity letterwinner in baseball. He was first-team All-MIAA selection in 1962, 1964 and 1965. During the 1965 season, Livedoti helped the Comets win the MIAA championship. He also earned first-team All-MIAA honors in 1964 as a member of the football team. Livedoti still holds the single-game record with 223 receiving yards. In 1988, Livedoti returned to Olivet as the head football and baseball coach. From 1988-92, the football team went 21-21-3. From 1988-93, the baseball team held a record of 65-110. Livedoti returned again to Olivet in 2002 as the assistant head coach/defensive coordinator for the football team. In 2004, he was promoted to head coach. He lives in Charlotte with wife, Liz, who is also a 1965 Olivet graduate.
