Fremeau wins two events to lead UOlivet men on day one of MIAA Field Day

ALMA, Mich. – Sophomore Owen Fremeau won two events to help The University of Olivet men's track and field team sit in fourth-place after day one of the 2025 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day at Bahlke Field.
FOR THE COMETS
- With seven events scored, the Comets have recorded 28 points. Trine (Ind.) University is on top of the leaderboard with 96 points, followed by Calvin University (78) and Albion College (33). Behind Olivet is Hope College (20), Adrian College (11) and Alma College (7).
- Fremeau captured the MIAA title in the shot put and hammer throw. He shattered his own school record in the shot put and climbed to 12th on the NCAA Division III Performance List with a 54 foot and 6-1/2 inch toss. Fremeau repeated as the league champion in the hammer throw with a 177 foot heave.
- Sophomore Austin Cole finished sixth in the shot put (43 feet and 2-1/4 inches).
- Freshman Lucas Salinas scored seventh-place points in the shot put (40 feet and 3-1/2 inches).
- Sophomore Peter Moore was sixth in the long jump (20 feet and 9-3/4 inches).
- Sophomore Kyle Redd advanced to the finals in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. He was fifth-fastest in the 400 at 50.01 seconds and sixth-fastest in the 200 at 22.30 seconds.
- Sophomore Luke Leighton snuck into the 400-meter hurdles with the eighth-quickest preliminary time at 57.52 seconds.
- Three Comets ran season-best times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and climbed higher in the all-time top 10 list. Freshman Luke Senters moved up to No. 4 with a time of 10:19.09, followed by sophomore Brenden Castillo to No. 6 at 10:20.63 and freshman Kutter Vanaken to No. 8 at 10:33.65.
- Senior Kayden Shrock posted a personal best time of 2:00.02 in the 800-meter run. His time is ninth in UOlivet history.

- The second day of the MIAA Field Day is tomorrow with the remaining field event finals, starting at 12 p.m. Finals in the track events begin at 4:15 p.m.
