Golfers garner WGCA All-American Scholar Team honors

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Six Olivet College women's golfers Nicole Deweyert, Taylor Elley, Crystal Lettinga, Logan McLane, Erin Taylor and Rachel Webb have garnered 2018-19 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team status.

The criteria for selection are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The student-athlete must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA) and she must have also competed in 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds. Olivet's six golfers were among the 1,097 women's collegiate golfers to be named to the team.

Deweyert and Elley have been named to the team for three straight years, while Lettinga is on the team for the second time. All six golfers are expected to return to the Comets' lineup in 2018-19. Deweyert is a three-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection. She currently has an 82.1 career stroke average over 55 rounds. Elley is averaging 89.4 strokes in 53 career rounds. After two seasons, Lettinga has recorded an 88.7 stroke average over 36 rounds. The remaining three – McLane, Taylor and Webb – recently completed their first season of collegiate golf. Taylor had the best stroke average of the trio at 88.6.
