2010-11 Olivet College Wrestling News
The wrestling team has finished in the top 10 in the annual academic championship in collegiate wrestling, which is sponsored by the NWCA. In addition, four individuals were named to the NWCA Scholar All-American team.
James Myers finished in sixth-place at the 2011 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, which was held inside the LaCrosse Center in LaCrosse, Wis. With his finish, he is the 14th wrestler in school history to earn All-American honors.
Behind championships by James Myers and Trevor Tyler, the wrestling team won the team title at the 2011 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional today at Wabash College’s Chadwick Court in Crawfordsville, Ind.
Boosted by two individual champions and six runner-up finishes, the wrestling team won the team title at the 2011 Mid-States Conference Tournament, hosted by Manchester (Ind.) College.

The wrestling team won its three matches today at the Wheaton (Ill.) College Duals. The Comets started the day with a 20-16 win over Augustana , and then defeated Concordia (Wis.), 37-4, and the host Thunder, 40-3.
The wrestling team posted a 1-1 record against NCAA Division I competition today at the 22nd Annual Wendy’s Classic Duals. In their first match, the Comets fell to Eastern Michigan University, 29-6, before bouncing back to beat Gardner-Webb (N.C.) University, 23-13.
The wrestling team won 9-of-10 bouts en route to a 39-3 win over Manchester tonight at the PERC in North Manchester, Indiana.
The wrestling team split two matches today at the Spartan Duals inside Jenison Field House in East Lansing. The Comets, who are ranked No. 8 in the NWCA Top 30 poll, defeated the Oakland, 34-7, and lost to Lock Haven, 22-15.
The wrestling team defeated Mt. St. Joseph, 34-10, tonight inside the Harrington Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The wrestling team split four matches today at the 2010 Desert Duals inside the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. The Comets started the day with a 28-9 loss to Coe and then upset St. John’s, 18-13. Olivet fell to Grand View, 25-23, before bouncing back to beat Baldwin-Wallace, 22-18, in its final match.
The wrestling team placed second by a narrow margin today at the 47th Annual North Central College Invitational inside the Nichols Gymnasium in Naperville, Ill.
Led by first-place finishes by James Myers at 157 pounds and Jim Neal at 184 pounds, the wrestling team finished in third-place at the 2010 Ohio Northern University Polar Bear Invitational.
The wrestling team hosted the 2010 Comet Duals today inside The Cutler Event Center, and finished the day with a 3-1 record. The Comets beat Wis.-Whitewater (23-12) and also defeated club teams from Oakland and Grand Valley (20-15). Olivet’s only loss was against Wartburg, 27-12.
The wrestling team won eight of 10 matches, including three by pin, en route to a 35-6 win over University of Chicago tonight at the Mackay Gymnasium in Olivet.
