King and Phelps to wrestle at NCAA Division III Championships
OLIVET, Mich. – Seniors Donovan King and Dylan Phelps from The University of Olivet wrestling team are ready to compete at the 2024 NCAA Championships Friday and Saturday at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The brackets for the 10 weight classes have been released by the NCAA.
King earned the No. 6 seed in the 285-pound bracket and will face Peter Wersinger from The College of New Jersey in his opening match. He is a two-time NCAA All-American after finishing second in 2022 and fifth in 2023. King enters the championships with a 14-2 record this season. He scored bonus points in 13 of the 14 wins, including eight pins and two technical falls.
Phelps is unseeded in the 141-pound bracket and will wrestle No. 7 seed Alex Samson from St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College in his first-round match. He has a 22-4 record in 2023-24. Sixteen (16) of his wins were bonus-point victories, including four pins and six technical falls.
