Bio
Educator, sportsman, coach -- his days on campus foretold the
direction his life would take in later years. As a freshman in
1955, he started in the first football game of the season, and
played every game during the four years thereafter. He was elected
to the ALL-MIAA second team in 1957 and 1958, received honorable
mention for the Little All-American, was named to the Associated
Press Michigan College Team, and was voted Most Valuable Player and
Captain in 1957 and 1958 by his team-mates. He was also on the
baseball team.
Active in campus life, he was president of Phi Alpha Pi, president
of the Monogram Club, treasurer of the Senior Class, Intramural
director, member of the Inter-society Council, and Homecoming King
in 1958.
Dedicated to the education and training of young people, he served
as a teacher and coach at Southgate, Mich., for 16 years. Then
joined the staff of Michigan Education Association as UniServ
Director in the Cadillac area.
As a devoted father, good citizen and staunch supporter of Olivet
College, he has demonstrated to all who watch an enthusiasm for
life and learning that has inspired all who have been associated
with him.
In recognition of his many accomplishments, Olivet College is pleased to induct him into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
