Bio
You were a member of the football team where you starred on the
offensive and defensive line. You led your team in tackles and
quarterback sacks in two-of-the-four years. The running backs on
the team commented that you were the one to open the holes for
them.
In a time when small colleges had no trainers and helmets with no
face masks, you often played through considerable pain. You played
many games with one good arm, and helped put a spin on the term,
“one-armed tackle.” Some people even said that you were
better with just one arm than most were with two.
You were innovative with the initiation of the weight training
program at Olivet. The equipment was primitive and even homemade,
in some cases. You used your ingenuity to build benches and
racks.
After graduating from Olivet, you became a successful teacher and
coach at Fremont High School for almost 40 years.
Olivet honors you and is proud to induct you into the Olivet
College Athletic Hall of Fame on this 29th day of September,
2007.
