Bio
Dorris “Dewy” Wilson was an outstanding volleyball,
basketball, and field hockey player as well as a pioneer in
women’s athletics at Olivet. She was a member of the first
intercollegiate women’s athletics at Olivet. She was a member
of first intercollegiate women’s volleyball, basketball and
field hockey squads to wear the Olivet Red-and-White. She earned
Most Valuable Player honors in both volleyball and basketball her
junior and senior years and was elected to the Michigan College
Field Hockey Team her freshman, junior and senior years. All
together, Ms. Wilson played four years of field hockey -- indeed an
outstanding achievement.
In basketball she was known for her fast break, in volleyball for
her devastating spike, and in field hockey for her power hitting.
In all sports, she was known for the examples she set in fair play
and athletic courtesy as she established standards for
women’s athletics at Olivet College.
For this distinguished athletic achievement, Olivet took great
pride in inducting her into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of
Fame.
