Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - November 15, 2021
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is junior Brianna Alexander, of Muskegon, and graduate of Muskegon High School. Alexander averaged 20 points in helps in helping the women’s basketball team split its first two games of the 2021-22 season. She also averaged 4.5 assists and 5.5 steals over the two games. Alexander scored 25 points to go along with four assists and eight steals in the Comets’ 84-81 overtime win against Earlham (Ind.) College.
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is sophomore Cortaveon Barnett, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduate of Lawrence Central High School for a third straight week. Barnett needed only 11 carries and one half of action to break the single-game Olivet record with 326 rushing yards against Finlandia University. He scored four touchdowns on runs of 52, 12, 60 and 85 yards, with the 52-yard rush being his first carry of the game. In addition, Barnett leads all of NCAA college football with an 11.48 yards per rush average.
