Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - February 21, 2022

The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is sophomore Jennifer Mann, of Orange, California, and graduate of Villa Park High School. Mann earned top three finishes in each of her three individual events at the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championship. She won the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyle and tied for third in the 200-yard breaststroke. Mann’s winning time in the 500 free (5:02.88) ranks No. 2 all-time at Olivet. She also led off the 800-yard freestyle relay with the second-fastest 200 free time in school history at 1:54.38.

The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is senior Chris Martin, of Santa Cruz, California, and graduate of Santa Cruz High School. Martin averaged 25.0 points over two games for the men’s basketball team last week. In an 84-74 loss to Albion College, he scored 24 points. Martin followed that with a 26-point performance in a 90-87 win over Alma College to help Olivet secure the No. 5 seed in the 2022 MIAA Tournament. Over the two games, he made 23-of-38 baskets (60.5 percent) to go along with recording five assists and 11 rebounds.
