Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - March 7, 2022
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is freshman Emily Norkowski, of Fife Lake, and graduate of Forest Area High School. Norkowski competed in the pentathlon at the Wartburg (Iowa) College Final Qualifier. She scored 2,429 total points over the five events. Norkowski’s best event was her first event, the 60-meter hurdles, where she ran the third-fastest time at 9.88 seconds (735 points). Norkowski also totaled 470 points (4 feet, 5-1/2 inches) in the high jump, 361 points (24 feet, 3-3/4 inches) in the shot put, 398 points (14 feet, 4-1/2 inches) in the long jump and 465 points (2:49.85) in the 800-meter run. She is only the second female in school history to participate in the indoor pentathlon.
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is senior Logan Sella, of Essexville, and graduate of Hampton-Garber High School. Last week, Sella helped the baseball team post a 3-1 record, including a three-game sweep at Principia (Ill.) College. For the week, he posted a .615 batting average (8-for-13), with five singles, two doubles and one home run for a 1.000 slugging percentage. Sella scored 10 runs and drove in five. He drew six walks for a .700 on-base percentage.
