Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - April 25, 2022
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is freshman London Eldridge, of Stanton, and graduate of Central Montcalm High School. At the Al Owens Classic, Eldridge broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.01. The time was also a season-best by nearly two seconds. Eldridge also posted a season-best time of 16.12 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay (52.15 seconds) and led off the 4x400-meter relay (4:28.49). Both relay times were also season bests for the Comets.
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is sophomore Trevor Lewis, of Marquette, and graduate of Marquette Senior High School. In a tennis match against nationally-ranked Kalamazoo College, Lewis picked-up Olivet’s only point with a thrilling win at the No. 6 singles position. He won the first set 6-3 before Lukas Hultberg won the second set 6-4 to force a match-tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Lewis went ahead 3-0 before Hultberg scored three straight points to level the score. Lewis scored four of the next five points to take a 7-4 lead. Hultberg answered with his own 4-1 spurt to tie the score at 8-8. Lewis scored a point off Hultberg’s serve to go up 9-8 and scored the last point on his own serve to win 10-8.
