Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - January 16, 2023
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is senior Jordon Brown, of Niles, and graduate of Niles High School. Brown broke two school indoor track records at season-opening Trine University Sean Brady Invitational. He first set the record in 60-meter dash finals with a time of 7.07 seconds and then lowered the school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.69 seconds. The previous records were 7.08 seconds in the 60 and 22.74 seconds in the 200. Brown also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay.
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is the women’s 4x800-meter relay. The team of freshman Sarah Grove, of Alma, and graduate of Alma High School; sophomore Abbey Peters, of Olivet, and graduate of Olivet High School; junior Allyson Stevens, of Fenwick, and graduate of Carson City Crystal High School, and junior Tonya Tepin, of Cedar Springs, and graduate of Cedar Springs High School; broke the school indoor record in the event with a time of 10:47.02 at the Trine University Sean Brady Invitational. The order of the relay was Peters, Tepin, Grove and Stevens. The previous record was 11:12.70.
