Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - November 21, 2022
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is junior Lily Connelly, of Grant Township, and graduate of Crosswell-Lexington High School. Connelly averaged 10.3 points over the first three women’s basketball games of the season. She scored nine points in Olivet’s home-opener against Bluffton (Ohio) University and followed that with 14 points against Otterbein (Ohio) University and eight points against Edgewood (Wis.) College at the Trine (Ind.)/Cameron Hospital Classic. Connelly also totaled nine rebounds and nine assists.
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is junior Donovan King, of Detroit, and graduate Farmington High School. The No. 1-ranked wrestler in the latest NWCA poll at 285 pounds, King posted a 4-0 record at the Comet Duals. He began his day with a 31-second pin against Austin Ryder from University of Mount Union (Ohio). King slipped past No. 14-ranked Brett Schoenherr from University of Wisconsin-Platteville, 5-4. The difference in the match was the riding time point. King then defeated Thomas Blackwell from John Carroll (Ohio) University, 14-1. He capped his day with a second-period pin at 3:28 over Jadon Brownlee from Ohio Northern University.
