Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - November 7, 2022
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is sophomore Stuart Donlan, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduate of Scecina High School. Donlan was Olivet’s top finisher at the Muskegon Community College Ben McMullen Open, as he placed second in the 133-pound bracket. After receiving a bye in the first round, Donlan defeated Sean Conway from University of Chicago (Ill.), 11-4. He then pinned Thomas Miller from Trine (Ind.) University at 4:44 in the semifinals. In the championship match, Donlan fell to Gabe Livingston from Southwestern Michigan Community College, 9-2.
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is freshman Sarah Steffens, of Wildomar, California, and graduate of Vista Murrieta High School. Steffens won each of her three individual events and swam a leg of a winning relay to help the women’s swimming team sweep a non-conference double dual meet. She touched first in the 100-yard freestyle (:58.14), 200-yard butterfly (2:18.18) and 200-yard individual medley (2:19.35). Steffens swam a 59.25 second split in the third leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (3:58.72).
