Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - December 11, 2023

The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is senior Lily Connelly, of Grant Township, and graduate of Crosswell-Lexington High School. Connelly scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out seven assists and made five steals in leading the women’s basketball team to a 64-58 come-from-behind win at Kalamazoo College. Five points and three steals came in the fourth quarter when the Comets outscored the Hornets, 19-10.

The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is sophomore Darren McLeod, of North Branch, and graduate of North Branch High School. Wrestling at 149 pounds, McLeod won each of his four matches by technical fall at Saint Clair County Community College Skipper Open. Two of the matches ended in the first period and the other two concluded in the second period. Over the four matches, McLeod outscored his opponents, 69-6, and the technical falls totaled 13 minutes and 41 seconds of time.
