Comets of the Week - May 5, 2025
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is senior Lily Connelly, of Grant Township, and graduate of Crosswell-Lexington High School. At the 2025 MIAA Field Day, Connelly was third in the 400-meter dash but broke the UOlivet record with a blistering time of 57.92 seconds. She also ran legs of the school record 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays, which set school records at 49.66 seconds and 4:02.03, respectively. The 4x400-meter relay finished second.
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is senior London Eldridge, of Stanton, and graduate of Central Montcalm High School. Eldridge won the 400-meter hurdles and took fourth in 100-meter hurdles at the 2025 MIAA Field Day. In the prelims of the 400, she lowered her school record time to 1:04.36, and in the finals, she went faster at 1:03.79. Eldridge’s preliminary time in the 100, 15.60 seconds, was a personal best. She also ran on the school-record 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays.
The Male Comet of the Week is sophomore Owen Fremeau, of Jackson, and graduate of Western High School. At the 2025 MIAA Field Day, Fremeau captured the league title in three throwing events – discus, hammer and shot put. In the shot put, he broke the UOlivet outdoor record with a 54 foot and 6-1/2 inch toss and move up to No. 14 on the NCAA Division III Performance List. Fremeau is the first Olivet track and field student-athlete to win three individual titles at the MIAA championships.
