Men’s and women’s cross country teams earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country team have earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors for the 2021 fall semester.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Olivet College men's and women's cross country team have earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors for the 2021 fall semester.
To be eligible to earn this honor, a team must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.1 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recently completed grading period. Under the tutelage of head coach Karen Lutzke, the Comet women have posted a 3.78 cumulative GPA, and the Olivet men have recorded a 3.25 cumulative GPA.
The Olivet women have earned this honor for 10 of the last 11 years, and the men in nine of the last 11 years. The women's 3.78 GPA is the highest in the 10 times it has earned the honor.
Overall, the USTFCCCA honored 137 men's teams and 163 women's teams in NCAA Division III. All nine Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's programs, and seven of eight MIAA men's teams were recipients of the award in 2021.
