Thirteen athletic teams from The University of Olivet receive MIAA Team GPA award
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Thirteen athletic teams from The University of Olivet have received the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Team GPA award for the 2024-25 academic year. The award is presented annually to the conference teams who post a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average for the entire academic year.
The women's basketball team had the highest GPA at 3.663, followed by women's golf team at 3.630, women's volleyball at 3.55 and women's tennis at 3.507. Both swimming and diving teams were next at 3.499 for the men and 3.465 for the women. The softball team posted a 3.450 GPA, followed by baseball (3.402), men's tennis (3.400), women's soccer (3.341), men's golf (3.335), women's outdoor track and field (3.328) and women's indoor track and field (3.310).
OLIVET NOTES:
- The MIAA Team GPA award was presented for the first time in 1998-99. The 2024-25 academic year is the 26th year for the award. In the 26 years that the award has been presented, 183 Olivet teams have been recognized.
- This year's 13 teams honored ties the 2019-20 academic year for the most teams honored in an academic year.
- The women's golf team is a recipient of the award for the most times of any Olivet athletic team at 21, including the last 18 years.
- The women's swimming & diving team is next at 20 years, including 12 straight years.
- The women's tennis team is an 18-time recipient, including 15 straight and 16 of the last 17 years.
- The women's outdoor track & field team has received the award 16 times, while the women's indoor track and field team has received the award seven of the eight years the MIAA has sponsored the sport.
- The women's basketball and softball teams team have both received this award 15 times.
- The women's soccer and women's volleyball teams are 14-time honorees.
