Five student-athletes from The University of Olivet garner MIAA Academic Elite Award
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the first-ever recipients of its Academic Elite Award and five student-athletes from The University of Olivet – London Eldridge, Morgan Good, Ella LaMothe, Darren McLeod and Jamie Stiver – have received the award. The new honor was created to recognize academic achievement among student-athletes across the conference.
Established the by the faculty athletic representatives from each MIAA school, the award will be presented annually to the top male and female student-athlete in each sport with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ties are not broken. Other criteria for selection are that the honoree must have at least two years of varsity participation in the sport and hold junior or senior academic standing.
Eldridge, a recent UOlivet graduate, was a four-year letterwinner on the indoor and outdoor track & field teams. The other four are rising seniors in their respective sport – volleyball for Good, golf for LaMothe, wrestling for McLeod and cross country/track and field for Stiver.
Each of the five UOlivet honorees have a 4.0 cumulative. GPA. Eldridge and Stiver are one of 10 track and field honorees. Stiver is one of seven women's cross country recipients. LaMothe is one of five women's golfers on the list. Good is one of only three volleyball players to earn the honor. McLeod is the lone wrestler being recognized.
