UOlivet bowling teams win team championship at Maple City Classic

GOSHEN, Ind. – The University of Olivet men's and women's bowling teams won the Maple City Classic held today at Maple City Bowl.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comet men had a 2,899 total over the three team games and 2,500 over the 12 baker games for a 5,399 grand total. Olivet's total bested runner-up Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College by more than 300 pins.
- Freshman Max Jenness was on the all-tournament team after finishing second in the individual standings with a 637 (211-235-191)
- Senior Joshua Billiter bowled as part of the junior varsity lineup and recorded 604 (214-173-217) pins to also land on the all-tournament team.
- The Comet women trailed the host Maple Leafs by 42 pins (2,495 to 2,453) after the three team games. Olivet edged them by 234 pins (2,140 to 1,906) in the 12 bakers to win by 192 pins (4,593 to 4,401).
- Sophomore Hollie Wendel finished first in the individual standings with a 544 (133-162-249) total. The 249 in the third game was high game among all bowlers in the tournament.
- Sophomore Brianna Fowlston had a 492 (141-172-179) total to place ninth.
UP NEXT
- The Comets are back in action Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5 at the Midwest Collegiate Championship. The men will bowl at Imperial Lanes in Clinton Township, while the women will bowl at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights.
