UOlivet women finish second, men take third at AHBA #1

Wendel, Good and Grigg earn spots on All-Tournament team
CANTON, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's bowling team finished second, and the men's team placed third at the first American Heartland Bowling Association event of the 2025-26 season held today at Super Bowl. The format for today's event was six team games.
FOR THE COMET WOMEN
- Olivet totaled 5,399 pins, which was only 40 less than Lawrence Technological University and 39 more than third-place Saint Vincent (Pa.) College.
- Sophomore Hollie Wendel had the Comets' best score with 1,181 pins (196.8 average) to finish second in the player standings of 110 bowlers and earn a spot on the all-tournament team. Her high game was the last with a 223, and other games were 212, 177, 195, 161 and 213.
- Freshman Adrianna Good joined Wendel on the all-tournament team. She was fifth with 1,154 pins (192.3 average), rolling the Comets' high game with 230 in the second game. Good's other games were 169, 191, 170, 165 and 229.
- Sophomore Sydney Gallagher posted a 1,039 total (173.2 average).
FOR THE COMET MEN
- Olivet recorded 6,178 pins. Cleary University claimed the top spot with 6,280 pins, followed by Lawrence Tech with 6,259 pins.
- Junior Ryen Grigg was fourth of 133 bowlers, totaling 1,305 pins (218.7 average) over the six games to land a spot on the all-tournament team. He got off to a fast start with a 277 in game one, and followed that with 211, 182, 220, 217 and 198.
- Sophomore Kory Nurse knocked down 1,256 pins (209.3 average) to finish 10th individually. His high game was also the first with a 236. Nurse's other games were 199, 232, 188, 195, 206.
- Freshman Nick Suemnick placed 17th, averaging 206.3 pins (1,238 pins). He nearly had a perfect game in the third with a 298, leaving only the four and seven pins standing on his last ball in the 10th frame. Suemnick's other games were 192, 200, 163, 201, 184.
UP NEXT
- The Comets return to Super Bowl tomorrow for the AHBA #2. The format will be three team games and 15 baker games.
