Baseball Team Falls to Madonna University, 5-3
The Olivet College baseball team fell to Madonna University, 5-3, today in its home opener.
OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College baseball team fell to Madonna University, 5-3, today in its home opener.
Leading the way for the Fighting Comets (4-6 overall) was junior Beau Locker (Coldwater/Union City High School) and senior James Virden (Branch/Mason County Central High School). Locker was two-for-four with a pair of singles and Virden had two hits and drove in a run. Senior Steve Held (Brampton, Ontario/Sainte Augustine) had a double that scored a run. Senior James Neeley (Ontario, Canada) and junior Richard Strain (Livonia Churchill High School) each had a base hit.
On the mound, junior D.J. Celetti (Saulte Ste. Marie, Canada/Notre Dame) picked up the loss after pitching four and one-third innings. He allowed four hits and struck out four batters. In relief, senior Jacob Marlow (Delton Kellogg High School) and sophomore Russ Kimball (National City/Tawas High School) combined to pitch three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits.
Olivet will travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana to play Wabash College on Saturday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m.
