Baseball Team Splits Doubleheader Against Wabash (Ind.) College
The Olivet College baseball team split a doubleheader with Wabash College of Indiana today (March 23) at Mud Hollow Field. The Fighting Comets fell to the Little Giants, 8-2, in the first game, and won the second game, 8-7.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Olivet College baseball team split a doubleheader with Wabash College of Indiana today (March 23) at Mud Hollow Field. The Fighting Comets fell to the Little Giants, 8-2, in the first game, and won the second game, 8-7.
In the first game, sophomore Matthew Hurley (Sault Ste. Marie, Canada/White Plains) was two-for-three at the plate with a double and run scored. Senior James Virden (Branch/Mason County Central High School) and juniors Joe Richards (Galesburg Augusta High School) and Richard Strain (Livonia Churchill High School) also had base hits for the Comets.
In the nightcap, Olivet fell behind 7-3 after four innings. The Comets rallied with five runs in the top of the sixth inning for the win. In the sixth, Hurley drove in a run and senior James Neeley (Ontario, Canada) and freshman Stan Cieslak (Troy/ Avondale High School) had two RBI apiece.
At the plate, every Comet had at least one hit. Hurley and Cieslak each had two hits. Cieslak, Richards and Strain scored two runs apiece. On the mound, sophomore William Lawrence (Hamilton, Canada/Bishop Ryan) won the game and senior Jacob Marlow (Delton/Kellogg High School) earned the save after pitching the final two outs of the game.
Olivet is idle until Friday-Saturday, March 28-29, when it opens Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play against Adrian College. On Friday afternoon, the Comets will play a single game against the Bulldogs at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Olivet will play a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
