Baseball Team Defeats MIAA Rival Albion College, 7-1, Second game suspended because of rain
The Olivet College baseball team defeated Albion College, 7-1, today in the first game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader. The second game was suspended after the first inning because of rain and will be completed on Friday at 1 p.m. The nine-inning series finale will also be on Friday. The Fighting Comets (19-14, 9-4 MIAA) extended their MIAA win streak to nine games.

Olivet scored two runs in the second inning and added another run in the third. Senior Steve Held (Brampton, Ontario/ Saint Augustine) hit a three-run homer in the fourth before closing out the scoring with a run in the fifth.
On the mound, junior Josh Kellogg (Morley Stanwood High School) improved to 5-3 this season as he pitched a complete game three-hitter. He struck out six batters and the Briton scored on a passed ball.
At the plate, senior catcher James Neeley (Ontario, Canada), junior centerfielder Beau Locker (Coldwater/Union City High School) and freshman third baseman Jason Rooley (Sault Ste. Marie, Canada/Korah) all were two-for-three. Locker drove in two runs and Rooley scored two runs.
Following its games on Friday, Olivet will host non-league foe Aquinas College Saturday, May 3. The first pitch of the nine-inning contest is 1 p.m.
