The Olivet College baseball opened the 2004 season with a 3-0 loss against Seton Hill (Pa.) University at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

At the plate, the Fighting Comets were held to four hits. Senior second baseman Joe Richards (Galesburg Augusta High School) was two-for-three with a walk and stolen base. Juniors Matthew Hurley (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/White Pines) and Ben Thomas (Kalamazoo/Comstock Park High School) had a base hit apiece.
On the mound, senior D.J. Celetti (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/Notre Dame) picked-up the loss after pitching four solid innings. He allowed eight base hits and three earned runs while striking out two batters. In relief, freshman Zach Langford (Marshall High School) pitched two hitless innings.
The Comets will continue play in Florida tomorrow, Feb. 29, when they play Seton Hill in a single nine-inning game at noon. On Monday, March 1, Olivet will play Hanover (Ind.) College at noon.
