Baseball players sweep MIAA awards
For the second time this season, Olivet College baseball players have swept the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) awards. Senior centerfielder Beau Locker (Coldwater/Union City) has been named the MIAA Player of the Week, and senior Josh Kellogg (Morley Stanwood High School) has been selected as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week.

Senior centerfielder Beau Locker (Coldwater/Union City) has been named the MIAA Player of the Week, and senior Josh Kellogg (Morley Stanwood High School) has been selected as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
Locker batted .455 (five-of-11) with seven RBIs as the Fighting Comets swept a three-game series from Kalamazoo College last Friday and Saturday, April 23-24. He hit a home run and scored six runs in the series. Kellogg pitched a complete game seven-hitter in Olivet's 7-1win over the Hornets. He allowed an unearned run while striking out 12 and walking three.
For the season, Locker leads the team with 35 base hits, seven doubles, four home runs, 22 runs scored and 29 RBIs. He ranks third with a .333 batting average and .514 slugging percentage. Kellogg is first among the starting pitchers with a 2.53 ERA in 53 and one-third innings of work. He has a 4-2 record in eight starts with five complete games. Kellogg also earned MIAA Pitcher of the Week honors two weeks ago.
The Comets (16-16, 8-4 MIAA) will host Albion College for a three-game series this Friday and Saturday, April 30-May 1. Friday's nine-inning game will start at 4 p.m., followed by two seven-inning contests on Saturday at 1 p.m. Adrian and Albion colleges are tied for first in the MIAA standings with a 9-3 record, and Olivet is one game behind.
