Olivet College baseball team names captains for 2008 season
Seniors Michael Katlin (Howell), Eric Quinn (Fort Gratiot/Port Huron Northern and David Pembroke (Bay City/John Glenn) will serve as captains for the Olivet College baseball team in 2008. Following the conclusion of their fall practice, the captains were chosen by a vote of the team and coaching staff.
Seniors Michael Katlin (Howell), Eric Quinn (Fort Gratiot/Port Huron Northern and David Pembroke (Bay City/John Glenn) will serve as captains for the Olivet College baseball team in 2008. Last year, Katlin had a .244 batting average along with 19 hits and 10 RBIs. Quinn was fourth on the team with a .302 batting average. On the mound, Pembroke posted a 2-2 record and team-low 2.86 earned run average. He was selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the week after throwing a 2-0 shutout victory against Tri-State (Ind.) University. Pemboke followed that outing with a complete game 1-0 win against Hope College, who won the 2007 MIAA championship.
The Comets will open the 2008 season March 8 when they travel to Port Charlotte, Fla., to compete in the RussMatt Invitational. Olivet will begin MIAA play at Hope College Saturday, March 22.
