McCloud and Felix earn All-MIAA baseball honors
Olivet College’s Erik McCloud (Holly) and Beau Felix (Hartland) have been named to the 2010 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) baseball teams.
Olivet College's Erik McCloud (Holly) and Beau Felix (Hartland) have been named to the 2010 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) baseball teams. McCloud is a first-team selection, while Felix is a second-team selection. All-league honors are based on a player's statistics during the 28-game MIAA schedule.
McCloud, who started all 28 games in centerfield, ranked among the MIAA leaders in batting average (second, .447), hits (tied for second, 38) and RBI (fifth, 27). He also posted team-high honors in runs scored (22) and stolen bases (nine). McCloud made only error in 56 chances for a .982 fielding percentage.
Felix recorded a .416 batting average to go along with a team-leading 11 doubles, five home runs, 58 total bases and .753 slugging percentage. He also drove in 14 runs and scored 20 runs. Playing in 27 games at first base, Felix committed just four errors in 152 chances for a .974 fielding percentage.
For the entire 40-game schedule, McCloud broke Olivet's single-season record with a .435 batting average. He also led the team in doubles (13), runs scored (35), triple (three), RBI (38), total bases (88), slugging percentage (.672) and on-base percentage (.506) and stolen bases (13). Felix was second on the team with a .396 batting average and hit a team-high five home runs.
Under the direction of third-year Head Coach Ted Mahan, Olivet finished the 2010 season with a 10-30 overall record and were sixth in the MIAA with an 8-20 record.
