Baseball team swept at Adrian, 8-4 and 14-0
The Olivet College baseball team was swept by Adrian College today at Nicolay Field in Adrian. The Bulldogs won game one, 8-4, and then shutout the Comets in the nightcap, 14-0.

In game one, the Bulldogs scored twice in the first inning. The Comets got one back in the second on a solo home run by freshman Ryan Pitt (Imlay City). Adrian added two runs in the second, one in the third and two in the fifth to take a 7-1 lead. In the sixth, Olivet pushed across three runs. Pitt hit a two-run single to score Senior Erik McCloud (Holly) and junior Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris). Freshman Randy Young (Wixom/Walled Lake Western) then lined a pinch-hit single, plating sophomore Austin Clark (Ossineke/Alpena).
For the game, Pitt went 2-for-2 at the dish with a run scored and three RBI. On the mound, junior Brad Beisiegel (Royal Oak) threw all six innings and gave up seven earned runs on 10 hits.
In game two, Adrian pushed across one run in the first, five in the second, two in the third inning, four in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a commanding 14-0 lead. For the game, six different Olivet players each recorded a hit. The lone extra base hit was a double by junior Beau Felix (Hartland). Pitt was the starting pitcher and suffered the loss. He surrendered 12 runs (11 earned) on 10 hits in three and two-third innings. Freshman Jay Magro (Bridgman) pitched two and one-third innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on four hits. Each pitcher struck out four batters.
Olivet will play Albion College for its next four-game series. On Thursday, April 15, the teams will play two games in Albion, starting at 2 p.m. The series then shifts to Olivet for a doubleheader Saturday, April 17, beginning at 1 p.m.
NOTE: McCloud had his 20-game hit streak snapped in the second game. The 20-game hitting streak is a school record. The previous record was 18 by Ricky Strain in 2002 and James Virden in 2003.
