Baseball team loses to Southern Vermont, 12-5

The Olivet College baseball team dropped a 12-5 decision to Southern Vermont College this afternoon at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.
For Southern Vermont, the first six batters of the game reached base and came around to score. The Vikings added to their lead with three runs in the second inning. Olivet got on the scoreboard with a two-run third inning. Southern Vermont stretched its lead to 10-2 with a run in the top half of the seventh inning. The Comets scored three times in the bottom half of the seventh on back-to-back-to-back doubles. The Vikings closed the scoring with two runs in the eighth.
Junior Ben Kosmalski (Canton/Plymouth) went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two singles, two RBI and one run scored. Junior Beau Felix (Hartland) and senior Erik McCloud (Holly) each had two hits. Felix was on base in all four of his plate appearances. Junior Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) was credited with the loss. He gave up nine earned runs off nine hits.
Olivet will play U.S. Merchant Marines Academy tomorrow at 2 p.m. and Fredonia State (N.Y.) College at 6 p.m.
