Olivet College's Jake Ball named MIAA Pitcher of the Week for baseball

OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior Jake Ball (Cadillac) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week for baseball.

Ball allowed only one earned run on four hits in two complete game victories. He threw a three-hitter and struck out six batters in Olivet's 2-1 win over Alma College April 2 at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. Four days later on April 6, Ball fired a one-hit shutout in a 13-0 victory at first-place Hope College. In MIAA play this spring, he is a perfect 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA in 21 innings. Opponents are hitting just .155 against him.

The Comets are scheduled to play a doubleheader tomorrow at Alma College at 2 p.m. Ball's next start on the mound is the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Albion College. Game time at Frank Joranko Field is 1 p.m. The series then moves to Olivet for the final two games Sunday afternoon, also starting at 1 p.m.
