HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team fell to Hope College, 13-3, in a nine-inning, non-conference game this afternoon at Boeve Field.

Records: Olivet 1-4 overall, Hope 1-2 overall
- The Flying Dutch took a 9-0 lead after scoring a run in the second and four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
- The Comets scored two runs in the sixth inning on an RBI-double by junior Matt Hewitt and sacrifice fly by sophomore James Harris.
- Hope got those runs back and one more in their half of the sixth. The big hit of the inning was a two-run home run by Brant Kym.
- The Flying Dutch capped their scoring with a single tally in the seventh inning.
- Olivet scored its final runs in the top half of the ninth inning.
- Olivet was held to five hits.
- Sophomore Sylas Woll was 2-for-4.
- The lone extra base hit was Hewitt's double.
- Four pitchers combined to throw the eight innings.
- Sophomore Drew Smith was tagged with the loss, as he gave up five runs (two earned) on six hits over the first three and two-third innings.
- Hope recorded 13 hits.
- Kym finished 3-for-3 and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He scored four runs and drove in three.
- Cal Barrett and Joey Merucci each had three hits.
- Max Gaishin was the winning pitcher. He allowed one hit, while striking out seven over the first five innings.
- Olivet returns to the field tomorrow for a doubleheader at Wittenberg University. First pitch from game one at Carleton Davidson Stadium in Springfield, Ohio, is 1 p.m.
