DELAWARE, Ohio – The Olivet College baseball team rallied in the ninth inning before falling to Ohio Wesleyan University, 13-9, in a non-conference game this afternoon at Littick Field.

- Olivet plated four runs in the second inning. Freshman Ben Hegevold led with a double, advanced to second on a wild pitch and came around to score on junior Sylas Woll's sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, back-to-back walks put two runners on base before an RBI-double by senior Matt Hewitt brought home a run and a fielding error by the first baseman on senior Logan Sella's batted ball score the final two runs.
- The Comets added another run in the fifth inning when Sella hit a double and came around to score on a double by sophomore Gabriel Kirck.
- The Battling Bishops needed only two hits to push across five runs in the home half of the fifth. The big hit of the inning was a grand slam home run.
- OWU exploded for eight runs in the seventh inning.
- Olivet did not go down quietly, as it scored four runs and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning.
- Olivet totaled 12 hits, including six doubles.
- At the plate, Kirck went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
- Sella had a pair of doubles.
- Hewitt collected a double, single and RBI.
- Woll finished the game with two hits and three RBI.
- Senior John Kortz suffered the pitching loss, as he allowed four runs on two hits over two and one-third innings.
- Edrick Padilla reached base safely in each of his five plate appearances, with four singles and a walk.
- Tyler Monaco and Izaiah Withrow each tallied two hits.
- Colin Spranger hit the grand slam for his only base hit of the game.
- Sammy Stoner was the winning pitcher, as he gave up a run on four hits over four innings.
- Olivet heads to Elsah, Illinois, on Friday for the first game of a three-game series against Principia College. First pitch is at 6 p.m. ET.
