HOLLAND, Mich. – The University of Olivet baseball team came up short against Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader, 11-1 and 11-6, this afternoon at Boeve Stadium.
THE BASICS

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Flying Dutchmen dented the scoreboard with four runs in both the second and third innings to take an 8-0 lead. The Comets scored their lone run in the fourth inning on an RBI-groundout by senior Mikey Kuzara. Hope pushed across one run in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth. Olivet went down in order in the seventh to end the game after seven innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
- The Comets were limited to three hits – singles by sophomore Jack Friesen, junior Tyler Hall and sophomore EJ Suggitt. On the mound, freshman Teagan Glennon made his first start of the season and suffered the loss. He gave up seven earned runs on six hits and three walks over two and one-third innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Olivet scored a run in the top of the first inning. The Flying Dutchmen responded with four runs in the home half of the first. The Comets got one back in the second before twice in the third to even the score at 4-4.
- Once again, the Flying Dutchmen had a response in their half of the third, as they plated two runs to take a 6-4 lead. Hope added two more runs in the fourth and one run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings for an 11-4 lead. Olivet closed the scoring in the ninth inning when sophomore Austin Alflen hit a two-run homer.
- At the plate, the Comets had seven hits. Kuzara was 2-for-4 with a double and single. Five other players each had one hit. Junior Nate Droste was tagged with the pitching loss after surrendering eight runs on nine hits over the first four innings. Sophomore Logan Lewis tossed four innings of relief, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits.

- The Comets travel to play Albion College next Wednesday, April 16, for a nine-inning game, beginning at 4 p.m.
