Carney selected MIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet senior Bryan Carney has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Baseball Pitcher of the Week. He is earning this honor for a second time this season.
In the Comets' 6-2 win over Alma College, Carney did not allow a run and struck out 14 batters over seven innings to earn the win. He scattered three hits and four walks. Carney currently leads the MIAA with a 0.96 ERA, 4.79 hits allowed per nine innings, 75 total strikeouts, 14.36 strikeouts per nine innings and 0.77 WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched). In addition, his 75 punchouts rank first NCAA Division III pitchers.
Olivet hosts Trine University (Ind.) on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. Carney's next scheduled start is Friday at Calvin University.
